The RNLI Fundraising Teams are the often unsung lifeboat volunteers. They work throughout the year holding fundraising events and rattling collecting boxes on Lifeboat Day. Their tireless efforts are not always noticed by the public but they make a vital contribution to saving lives at sea.
A special Awards Ceremony was held in the boathouse on 23rd June at which Mrs Rosemary Lang and Mrs Anne Morrison were presented with RNLI Bronze Badges in recognition of their voluntary work raising money for the RNLI.
Presentations were made by Mrs Tamsin Ferrier, Fundraising Manager from the RNLI's Scottish Divisional Base in Perth.

On Wednesday 9th June, members of the Helensburgh Bowling Club once again held the RNLI Wappenschaw with the Ladies game being held in the afternoon and the Mixed game in the evening. Winners of the evening game were Paddy Nichol, Stewart Gray and Hugh Murray. After a very well supported event, President Walter Jamieson presented a cheque for the very generous sum of £150.
Fortunately the midges only appeared towards the end of the game!

A very enjoyable and well supported Curry Supper was held in the Royal Northern and Clyde Yacht Club on Friday 5th February with 130 supporters attending. Various curry dishes were available with lifeboat crew members acting as wine waiters. The guest speaker was Tamsin Ferrier, Fundraising Manager, from the RNLI's Scottish Divisional Base in Perth. Following the raffle ticket draw, an Auction was held for 2 Loch Lomond Seaplanes tickets.

Another successful New Year's Day Swim at Rhu Marina organised by Provost Billy Petrie and his family with over 180 entrants and 500 spectators. It was a bright day this year and slightly 'chilly' - the water temperature was 8 deg. C. As usual lifeboat crew members provided safety cover in the water while the RNLI Fundraisers provided the intrepid swimmers with a welcome cup of hot soup in the Lifeboat Boatshed.

More than four decades since he became the first Coxswain of Helensburgh Lifeboat, Willie Lamond returned to the station during one of the Wednesday Boatshed Open afternoons. Willie was one of the leading figures in establishing a lifeboat station in the town in 1965. At that time, Willie was Pier Master at Rhu. Crew member Jamie Shields is pictured explaining the boat's new technology to Willie.
