This class of rigid inflatable lifeboat was introduced into the fleet in 1993 to replace the Atlantic 21 class (the last of which left service early in 2008). The crew can right the craft by gas-power should it capsize, and the engines are inversion-proofed to restart from wet. The name '75' is derived from a length of nearly 7.5m.
